Wow. Who knew it could be so inspiring to take something old and battered, and create something so cool, new and revitalized... And all it would take is some Chalk Paint.. I found a child size rocking chair at a garage sale. It was in fabulous shape for its age, but as I wanted this for the Granddaughter...........It had to become Black and Pink and become a Mini Mouse Chair.
It was in such great shape, but I was worried about the Shellac coming through, or the paint not sticking. All the instructions indicate that no prep is required with Chalk Paint, sooooooooo I just dove right in.
I used Annie Sloan Old White on the seat, Graphite with a splash of Black craft paint to make it darker, and Scandinavian Pink on the Rails. I was so surprised at how well the paint adhered to the chair. No sanding, no prep at all. It does dry to a matt finish though, so you need to add something to it, if you want it to pop
Of course it could not be our Sweet Baby Granddaughter's chair without a little Mini on it. I purchased some self adhering stickers and placed it right over the chalk paint. Now I needed to protect the chair, from all the sticky fingers and food that this cute chair would soon face... I gave the whole thing 2 coats of General Finishes High Performance Poly. Fabulous Product... Glided on easily and gave my Chalk Paint the little gloss that it needed.
So now I am off to try another project using this incredible paint.
